5th battery voltage

The 5th battery is generally used for the nickel-cadmium power battery and the nickel-metal hydride battery of the primary battery carbon battery, the alkaline battery and the secondary battery. Therefore, the battery voltage of the battery No. 5 may differ depending on the battery type because the carbon battery and Alkaline battery voltage properties are the same, so you can divide the 5th battery voltage into disposable 5th battery voltage, nickel-cadmium 5 battery voltage and nickel-metal hydride 5 battery voltage.

1. The No. 5 battery has a nominal voltage of 1.5V and a termination voltage of 0.9V. This is the same for both alkaline and carbon batteries. The standard for determining the capacity of a primary battery is actually the discharge time when discharging to 0.9V, which is the most important parameter in performance and the basis of the price of a primary battery.

2. Nickel-cadmium batteries: The nominal voltage is 1.2V. The discharge termination voltage is related to the discharge rate. The termination voltage of the 8-hour rate discharge is 1.10V, and the 5-hour rate is 1.00V.

3. The discharge termination voltage of nickel-metal hydride batteries is generally specified as 1.0V, the charge termination voltage is 1.5V, the nominal voltage is 1.2V, and the termination voltage of nickel-cadmium and nickel-metal hydride batteries is generally between 0.9V and 1.1V. . Due to the popularization of lithium batteries, people now often speak of lithium batteries No. 5, which is actually equivalent to 14500 batteries, and the nominal voltage of this No. 5 battery is 3.7V.

The charge-discharge curve can help us to understand the phased characteristics of the No. 5 battery voltage.

1. From the discharge curves of No. 5 carbon battery and alkaline battery, it can be seen that when using 3.9 Ω discharge, the alkaline battery declines much slower, which is the root cause of the more durable alkaline battery.

2. Comparing the performance of nickel-cadmium and nickel-metal hydride batteries when charging and discharging. At the termination of charging, the nickel-cadmium 5 battery voltage drops much faster than the nickel-metal hydride 5 battery voltage.

The No. 5 battery voltage is required to be marked on the battery case. When using the rechargeable battery, it is necessary to pay attention to the influence of overcharge/discharge on the No. 5 battery voltage. When overcharge and overdischarge occurs, the electrode structure will be damaged, and the battery reversible reaction. Can not be fully restored, so that the battery capacity is permanently damaged. Once the battery is over-discharged, the battery voltage on the 5th battery will drop below 0.9V. This will result in leakage and the battery can no longer be used.
